Ponytail was as a comic strip by Lee Holley. It ran from 1960 to 1988. It was also turned into comic book series, which sometimes recycled material from the comic strip. It ran for 12 issues on Dell Comics (July-September 1962 to December 1965), then jumped ship to Charlton Comics for a further 8 issues (November 1969 - January 1971).

The strip starred teenage girl "Ponytail" Johnson and her boyfriend Donald Dawson and their teen antics at Watsonhill High School.
