Meta-fake rock and roll band from the "Psyched Out" story of Dell comic book Ponytail #12 (December 1965).
Title teen "Ponytail" Johnson is such a big fan of The Mingo Barr Five, jealous boyfriend Donald hatches a stupid scheme with his friends Penrod Albrain and Rock Smash to form this fake band. They can't play, so they just put on white wigs and mime to a tape of the Mingo Barr Five.
The audience of teen girls goes nuts and storms the stage to rip their clothes off, on which the deception is revealed and everyone is mad at them.
