Marta Maria

Soprano who appears in Will Eisner's "The Street Singer," one of the four stories in A Contract With God and Other Tenement Stories (1978). Marta (real name Sylvia Speegel) trained with "the great Madam Lashtimme" and toured the world before marrying a drunkard who beat her and ruined her career. She gets taken again by drunk "Ronald Berry," the titular street singer, aka Eddie.
