Real singer Tommy Sands plays this Elvis-esque preacher's son turned rock star in the 1958 film Sing Boy Sing. The movie was based on an episode of Kraft Television Theatre titled "The Singin' Idol," where the character was named Ewell Walker.

His Colonel Parker-esque manager is Joseph Sharkey (Edmond O'Brien).

Tommy Sands also played fictional singer Joey Rand.
