The Sirens

Half-human, half-bird creatures of Greek myth that lured sailors into shipwrecks with their magically enchanting singing. They appear in Homer's Odyssey; Odysseus beats them by plugging up all his sailors' ears with beeswax and tying himself to the mast.

Jason and the Argonauts beat them by having Orpheus on board, who sings pounder and more beautifully than the Sirens.
