The Nickaninny is the band formed by main character Bugs Potter in Canadian-American author Gordon Korman's 1983 teen novel Bugs Potter: LIVE at Nickaninny. The band was formed while Bugs was forced to go on a remote camping trip with his family. They put on a massive, loud rock concert on the shore of Lake Naka-Mee-Chee.

Members:

Name Role
Elizabeth Vedda
(Bugs' neighbour, also forced on the camping trip)
Lead Vocals
Roger Forrest
(the forest ranger)
Lead Guitar
Gus Soaring Eagle
(a Naka-Mee-Chee First Nations man from New York City
in the woods trying to reconnect with his culture)
Flute
Bugs Potter Drums

Bugs, Gus, Roger and Elizabeth sat side by side at camp tables, fielding questions from the press.

"Well, we got the idea for The Nickaninny," Bugs was saying, "because things were so boring here that a guy could die. Gus, Roger and I played together, and we were so great. We decided to form a rock group. Then Elizabeth joined, and there we were."

"And the equipment was all yours?"

"Well, we made the drums," Bugs explained, "and Gus had a flute and Roger had his own guitar. The speakers came with Roger’s helicopter, and the rest of the stuff – the mikes, some lights and a bunch of cameras – just dropped out of the sky into Roger's tomato patch yesterday while we were having breakfast."
