The releases by these 'bands' on Stones Throw Records often looked and sounded as if they were vintage and discovered in a second-hand record store, with pre-printed ringwear on the cover and pre-recorded vinyl crackling in between songs.
The Kenny Cook Octet appears on the 2010 compilation "High Jazz" on the Madlib Invazion label with the track "High Jazz", alongside the flagship 'band' in this context, Yesterdays New Quintet.
