Les Trayne

Jazz trumpeter from the "Jazz!" story of comic book Witches Tales #20 (August 1953). he tries out for manager Mr. Whipple, who turns him down because "I don't think you have it! You're a good technician...a real good mechanic! But... you're not a jazz musician! You lack feeling!"

Trayne goes on to stardom anyway, but Whipple keeps showing up and needling him after his shows about how his music lacks emotion. Then when Trayne finally attacks Whipple, it's revealed Trayne was an android all along. Aaaand also Whipple. Because, uh, reasons.
