Fico Tagliafico
Italian musician from the 1904 play The Music Master by Charles Klein. He plays mandolin, guitar, and piano. He is know by the nickname "Fico," a shortening of his last name. His real first name is never given.
Protagonist Barwig is in New York in a failed search for his wife who ran off with their daughter, and running out of money. Fico lives in the same boarding house, and is a friend to Barwig, who has helped him get in the Musicians' Union.
W.G. Ricciardi played Fico in the play. The play was adapted into a 1927 silent film. Leo Feodoroff played Fico in the film. Unfortunately, it is believed no copies of the film still exist.
A novelization of the play by the author was published in 1909.
