Early in the film, Buck Bonham's longtime guitarist Garland Ramsey (Slim Pickens) retires, and the band hires Cotton sight unseen. They end up embarrassing him on stage, so the temp guitarist, Garland's daughter Lily Ramsey, stays with the band.
