Bear’s Big Band

Animal band featured in The Bear, the Piano, the Dog, and the Fiddle, a 2018 children’s book by writer/illustrator David Litchfield. The book is a sequel to 2016’s The Bear and the Piano and prequel to 2020’s The Bear, the Piano, and Little Bear’s Concert, both by Litchfield.

In the book, moderately talented human violinist Hector gives up his dreams of the concert hall in the wake of Bear’s meteoric rise. His dog, Hugo, decides to take up the fiddle, and ends up being extremely talented. Hugo gets recruited into the band, lessons are learned about friendship and jealousy, and eventually Hector gets to jam with his friend. It’s sweet.
