I think his name is a joke on a common name for the green cruciferous vegetable Rapini: "Broccoli Rabe".
He has recorded with Trey Anastasio from the real-world band Phish, and also recorded a new Vermont State Milk Lobby Milk Awareness Song called "Calci-Yum".
