Hunky folk singer and guitarist introduced in the "Minstrel Man" story of Archie comic book Josie #42 (August 1969). He becomes the new love interest of Josie (of Josie and the Pussycats). replacing Josie's old boyfriend Albert, who disappeared completely and inexplicably several issues previously.
Also in this issue, Alan forms the trio Alan and the Jesters with series regular Alexander Cabot III, and another new character, drummer Gloomer, who is so depressed and mumbly that his girlfriend's nickname is "Instant Replay," because she is the only one who can understand him and has to repeat everything he says for everyone else.
Alan and the Jesters never come up again, and a few issues later, Josie and the Pussycats are born!
