Vengeful, Blane rigs up a electronic device to give Carlisle headaches, and then tries to kill him undetected via a poisoned record. But his "perfect" scheme collapses, and desperate, he attacks and kills Carlisle on the air in the studio, and is shot dead fleeing the police.
