Crooner appearing in William Hjortsberg's 1978 horror novel Falling Angel, as well as the 1987 movie adaptation Angel Heart and a 2016 opera (also titled Falling Angel) by composer J. Mark Scearce and librettist Lucy Thurber. All of the iterations involve private detective Harry Angel (Mickey Rourke in Angel Heart) seeking Favorite, a popular singer before WWII, who has been missing and believed institutionalized from combat injuries.
