Undeservedly forgotten German Baroque composer with a ridiculously long name profiled in a Monty Python's Flying Circus skit (Nov. 23, 1969, "It's the Arts"). His wife was Sarah.

Full name (taken from the book of the show scripts, which gives his name with the hyphens):

Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-schplenden-schlitter-crasscrenbon-fried-digger-dingle- dangle-dongle-dungle-burstein-von-knacker-thrasher-apple-banger-horowitz-ticolensic-grander-knotty-spelltinkle-grandlich-grumblemeyer-spelterwasser-kurstlich-himbleeisen-bahnwagen-gutenabend-bitte-ein-nürnburger-bratwustle-gerspurten-mitz-weimache-luber-hundsfut-gumberaber-shönedanker-kalbsfleisch-mittler-aucher von Hautkopft of Ulm.

His name is mostly meaningless mock German; a few bits are real German:

  • bahnwagen = tram car
  • gutenabend = good evening
  • bitte = please
  • kalbsfleisch = "calf's flesh" = veal
  • shönedanker = Danke Schön backwards, means thanks
