Real musician Andrew Bird portrayed this top-hatted fixer of all stringed instruments early in his career on the "Jack's Big Oops" episode (January 21, 2007) of kids' television series Jack's Big Music Show. He is magically summoned after the main puppet characters break their hammered dulcimer, and he magically fixes it.
He sings a song about himself, "Dr. Stringz," that Bird still occasionally performs in concert.
