Mattel's Barbie doll competes with Jem and the Holograms in the direct to video animated cartoon Barbie and the Rockers: Out of This World (1987), and a sequel, Barbie and The Sensations: Rockin' Back to Earth (1987). In Brazil, several Rockers lines were released, and replaced the normal members with Barbie's Brazil-exclusive friends aside from Diva for one year. The line was rebooted and modernized in 2017.
