Legendary jazz musician from the 1994 novella Pork Pie Hat by Peter Straub.

The jazz aficionado narrator is surprised to learn his idol is actually still alive and playing in an East Village jazz club in NYC. He asks for an interview, and Hat tells him a rambling story about witnessing a murder in his youth.
