Cephalopod is a band mentioned in Canadian-American author Gordon Korman's 1980 teen novel Who is Bugs Potter?.

"I know all about lasers. They sometimes use them at big rock concerts. At the Cephalopod concert in New York last year they had a big rotating laser projector. It was amazing!"
