Doobetter Lester Sing Along with MAD.jpg

Clean-cut, all-American youth who's turned into a rock star thanks to smoking pot and supergroupie Marigold Shapiro, in the "My Square Lester" story of Sing Along With MAD (1970), a parody of My Fair Lady (1964).

Rock industry star-maker Henry Headman bets his right-hand man Pitkin that he can turn this square into "the hippest, grooviest, swingiest rock star in the country."

After a month, Lester has a smash debut at the Poughkeepsie Rock Festival and tops the charts with eleven of his albums in the top ten. Waitaminute.

Written by Frank Jacobs and drawn by Al Jaffee who drew for MAD for... FORTY-FIVE YEARS?! Dang.
