Nine Sisters

Band that protagonist artist Sonny Malone paints a copy of on a record store window. He becomes obsessed with the model on the cover, who turns out to be an actual Muse of Greek mythology, Kira (Terpsichore, played by Olivia-Newton John). She inspires him to continue his art, and team up with Danny McGuire (Gene Kelly) to open a hot new nightclub.

The band also appears on a computer list in the 1990 film The Adventures of Ford Fairlane. Their record label head Julian Grendel (Wayne Newton) is secretly bootlegging his own artists and pocketing the profits. Detective Ford Fairlane (Andrew Dice Clay) stumbles onto his scheme.

The Nine Sisters are a mountain chain in California, and a reference to the nine Muses of Greek mythology.
