James Audrey Maid To Order.png

Former singer turned maid cause she drank away her career in the 1987 film Maid To Order. She gets a big break when the lead singer of Loaded Blanks is knocked unconscious by a falling coconut, and she gets to fill in at the last minute. She sings "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)" a 1964 hit for Betty Everett. This is super appropriate and kinda funny, since James is played by real singer Merry Clayton, who recorded the first version of "The Shoop Shoop Song!"

James then pulls waiter/songwriter Nick McGuire (Michael Ontkean) onstage to sing his ballad "I Can Still Shine," really by Ashford and Simpson.
