From Rocklopedia Fakebandica
Jump to navigationJump to searchBard, druid, and judge in Irish mythology, as outlined in the anonymously authored (or more likely, compiled) 11th century work Lebor Gabála Érenn. He and his brothers conquer Ireland for humanity, defeating the supernatural Tuatha Dé Danann, who retreat to the Otherworld. Amergin's brothers appoint him Chief Ollam of Ireland, that is, king of the bards.
He used his power to sing "The Song of Amergin" which calmed a storm allowing his brothers' ship to land.
He is credited with writing The Cauldron of Poesy.
