The protagonists of British sitcom Father Ted became a musical act in the "Song for Europe" episode (first aired 3 Apr. 1996). They plagiarize the melody of the B-side of Nin Huegen and the Huegenotes' 1976 Eurovision entry for their own Eurovision tune, "My Lovely Horse." They end up winning the contest, beating out Father Dick Byrne and Father Cyril McDuff and three bands who are only mentioned on a sign:

A real song from a real band ("You Dirty English Bastards" by the Hairy Bowsies), is also listed on the sign.
