Musical frog created and played by Jim Henson (and, later, Steve Whitmire [1990–2016] and Matt Vogel [2017–]). Since debuting in 1955 as part of Sam and Friends, Henson's five-minute, twice-daily puppet show on WRC-TV, Kermit has developed into a classic triple threat singer/dancer/actor. Some of his most notable musical performances include "Bein' Green" (premiered on the 10 Mar. 1970 episode of Sesame Street), "Rainbow Connection" (The Muppet Movie, 1979), and an album of duets (Kermit Unpigged, 1994). He also sang on The Muppet Show and Muppets Tonight, as well as in many Muppet movies, books, videos, and specials.
