Carter Cora Cow Puncher Comics.png

Singer from the "Flaming Fingers of Death" story of western comic book Cow Puncher Comics #5 (1948). She sings at the Ten-Gallon Hotel in town.

Someone tried to kill her by knocking her out and starting a wildfire near her. Hero The Texas Ranger saves her and figures out whodunnit, by letting the murderer think they succeeded. Unfortunately, this means Cora must bear the indignity of wearing her burnt, torn clothes for the entire story.

Turns out manager Hal Creeger did it, and tipped his hand by hiring a new, unnamed singer before he offed the old one. He thought Cora overheard him talking about how he was embezzling from the hotel to pay his gambling debts.
