Protagonist from the song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band, from a single released May 21, 1979, and then the album Million Mile Reflections. An excellent violinist residing in the state of Georgia, the devil challenges him to a fiddle contest and loses. Johnny wins a gold fiddle.

A sequel song, "The Devil Comes Back to Georgia" by Mark O'Connor and on his 1993 album Heroes, has the Devil challenge Johnny a second time. Johnny's out of practice because he has a new baby, but remains confident, over-cofident even, in his ability to best the Devil. The song featured Charlie Daniels, Travis Tritt as the devil, Marty Stuart as Johnny, and Johnny Cash as the narrator.
