The Monkey Orchestra
From Rocklopedia Fakebandica
Jump to navigationJump to searchName of a series of porcelain figurines designed and made for the Meissen company in 1753 by Johann Joachim Kändler (1706-1775). It was a series of satirical depictions of classical orchestra musicians, only you know, as monkeys. The monkeys are dressed in high rococo style, with large powdered wigs and fancy knee britches.
The designs were based on "singerie" drawings by French Christophe Huet.
