The Whacksis Powers: The Theater of War is a short comedy film aired in 2006 on Comedy Central's Motherload. They are loosely based on Warner Brothers war cartoons.
Created by Augenblick Studios, the short film was part of a larger work called Golden Age which "uncovers the seedy underbelly of the world of cartoons."
History
The Whacksis Powers were a trio of animated characters created in 1942 by the Special Wartime Department of Polytone Pictures Animation Division who found themselves unemployed when the war ended and work for evil dictator lookalikes became alarmingly scarce.
They had starred with Polytone Pictures star Gaffy Gander in wartime propaganda and war bonds films.
Post-war, they released an unsuccessful album of novelty songs in an attempt to regain some relevance.
They lived out their lives on modest army pensions having waged the good war.
