Popular nightclub singer murdered in the popular 1927 murder mystery novel The "Canary" Murder Case, by S. S. Van Dine, abnd featuring his running detective character Philo Vance, who solves the case. Her real name is Margaret Odell. Beautiful, she's also a conniving social climber and blackmailer, which is what gets her all murdered in the first place.
The novel was adapted into the 1929 film The Canary Murder Case where Louise Brooks played the Canary, and William Powell played Philo Vance.
