Custom-built steam calliope at the Circus McGurkus, from the 1956 Dr. Seuss children's book If I Ran the Circus. It's pipes are "gold brass-plated tin" and makes a "bummbeling din."
It's played by circus owner Morris McGurk himself in the opening parade, drawn by camels and mounted on an alligator or crocodile. McGurk plays "Dixie."
