None other than Val Kilmer played this late 1950s/early 1960s-style teen rock idol in the 1984 Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker comedy film Top Secret!.
Kilmer actually sang the songs on the soundtrack as well: the Beach Boys parody "Skeet Surfing," a parody of "Are You Lonesome Tonight," and the period-type songs "How Silly Can You Get," "Straighten the Rug," "Spend This Night With Me" and a straightforward cover of "Tutti Frutti." This humble six song cassette is one of my prized possessions.
