May 2006 article from Vice magazine

Teenager Chip's hardcore band from Hi and Lois (comic strip by Brian & Greg Walker). Not sure when it first appeared, but here's a definite appearance on March 22, 1998.

Apparently the band was based and named after a real band that Brian Walker's son Andrew was in (see image).

The band may have gone through other names as it evolved, including Noy-Z and Deaf Zeppelin.

In the August 24, 2024, strip, the band’s bass drum reads “OC/DC,” so they either changed their name, the artist forgot that the band had a different name, or they were going for a vague OCD joke that’s been done before.
