The title character of the novel The Case of the Frightened Rock Star by Elizabeth Levy (Pocket Books, 1980), the first novel in the five volume Jody and Jake Mystery Series.

He sings, plays guitar and his big hometown concert years ago ended in tragedy when the stadium burned down. He used to sing with his pal Tommy Montag, but he ran off after the fire.

Soon after his graduation, Michael Harper had recorded "The Joke's on Me" and it became an instant hit. He had moved to California and had never returned. In the meantime, the stadium remained a burned out shell.
