Undeservedly forgotten German Baroque composer with a ridiculously long name profiled in a Monty Python's Flying Circus skit (Nov. 23, 1969, "It's the Arts") . His wife was Sarah.

Full name (taken from the book of the show scripts, which gives his name with the hyphens):

Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-schplenden-schlitter-crasscrenbon-fried-digger-dingle- dangle-dongle-dungle-burstein-von-knacker-thrasher-apple-banger-horowitz-ticolensic-grander-knotty-spelltinkle-grandlich-grumblemeyer-spelterwasser- kurstlich-himbleeisen-bahnwagen-gutenabend-bitte-ein-nürnburger-bratwustle- gerspurten-mitz-weimache-luber-hundsfut-gumberaber-shönedanker-kalbsfleisch- mittler-aucher von Hautkopft of Ulm.

His name is mostly meaningless mock German; a few bits are real German:

  • bahnwagen = tram car
  • gutenabend = good evening
  • bitte = please
  • kalbsfleisch = "calf's flesh" = veal
  • shönedanker = Danke Schön backwards, means thanks
