From Baja Oklahoma, (novel by Dan Jenkins), 1981. Barmaid at Herb's Cafe in South Fort Worth turned songwriter. She eventually works her way up to singing onstage with real country star Willie Nelson.

The novel was turned into a 1988 HBO made-for-tv movie with the same title. Lesley Ann Warren played Juanita.
