Human muppet from the long-running PBS children's TV series Sesame Street. A pianist and songwriter, he was prone to spasms of paralyzing self-doubt and self-loathing, frequently banging his forehead on the keyboard in frustration. He typically appeared in short sketches being interviewed at home at the piano by reporter Kermit the Frog, agonizing over something.
He first appeared in season six- 1974. His last new appearance was in 1991, and he was dropped in reruns by 1998 because of complaints about his self-inflicted punishment.
