Cool, or Mr. Cool, is a trumpeter played by Tony Hippolyte in the 1986 film Absolute Beginners. He plays in the jazz band at the nightclub Chez Nobody. They perform the song "Killer Blow" featuring lead singer Athene Duncannon, played by Sade. Cool got his nickname because he is "so cool for reasons too obvious to mention", according to the film's main character, photographer Colin.
The film is based on the novel Absolute Beginners by Colin MacInnes, but in the book Mr. Cool is a jazz fan, not a musician, and Chez Nobody is a coffee spot, not a jazz club.
