Popular singer from the "Marty Monk" story of comic book All Top Comics #6 (April-May 1947). Marty buys his gal one of his records, but she wants it autographed. When he tries to get it autographed after a show, the mob knocks his record away and he has to chase after it, resulting in shenanigans.
The name "Bing Sumatra" is a spoof of crooners Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra.
