Born Sugar Kowalczyk from Sandusky, Ohio, she comes from a musical family, her mother was a piano teacher, and her father was a conductor- a train conductor (rimshot). Trouble is she’s an alcoholic, and if Sweet Sue catches her drinking once more she’ll kick her out.
We learn that prior to the Society Syncopaters, she was in six other bands in two years and that she joined an all-girl band to get away from those bums because she can't trust herself around sax players. She has a thing about saxophone players, especially tenor sax!
