Ill-tempered lout of a pop singer from the "Grand Hotel" story of comic book Archie Giant Series Magazine #18 (September 1962). Veronica is so enamored of him, she tricks him into thinking her mansion is a fancy hotel so he'll stay there. But he's such a jerk, Veronica's dad Mr. Lodge gets Archie and Jughead to annoy Barren so bad he leaves.
Also present is Barren's manager Clyde. Barren's name is a parody of real singer Bobby Darin; Barren even sings a few lines of Darin's hit song "Mack the Knife."
