Would-be folk singer from the 2007 film I'm Not There, wherein Bob Dylan's life is exploded into fictional fragments, each portrayed by a different actor and fictional name.
Guthrie, who has named himself after real folksinger Woody Guthrie, is a 12-year-old African-American boy (Marcus Carl Franklin) riding the rails as a hobo in 1959. His real last name may be Chaplin. He represents Dylan's early years. Guthrie visits the real Guthrie, dying in a hospital bed in New Jersey, as the real Dylan did.
