Jewish Swiss composer who writes the song "Lili Marleen," later made famous in Nazi Germany, by his ex-girlfriend Willie in R.W. Fassbinder's 1981 film Lili Marleen.

In reality, the song started as a 1915 poem by Hans Leip, and was set to music in 1938 by Norbert Schultze and made famous by Lale Andersen.
