Reinhart "Renne" Sundheimer was a child prodigy on the cello in the 1994 novel The Soloist by Mark Salzman. Despite training with world famous cellist Johannes von Kempen, hearing issues and encroaching mediocrity derail his success and he becomes a UCLA cello teacher.
